The Hunting for God Tackle Box Giveaway

Hey everyone! It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything about the blog itself, so I thought I would take this opportunity to do a little housekeeping.

First off, I’m really excited to tell you that HfG has grown by leaps and bounds. The blog just turned three years old, and next month we’ll celebrate two years of posting twice a week. The first year I did this, the blog saw just under 1,000 visitors. The next, just over 4,000. This year, the blog has seen 7,500! I can’t tell you how much it means to me that so many of you have made room in your lives for my words and the words of our contributors. To say “thank you”, I decided to try something new. But… We’ll get to that in just a few moments.

As exciting as this growth is, it’s a little scary too. When the blog was small and contained, it was easy to justify leaving it at wordpress.com and never having to deal with any of the technical stuff. Now that we’re growing, I’m finding that the lack of control is a little stifling at times. I’ve got some big ideas, and unfortunately, I cannot make them a reality with things being what they are. Fortunately, however, HfG has received a generous donation that has allowed us to purchase server space and our very own domain! The problem is, web stuff is not my particular forte. If anyone out there is experienced in setting up WordPress installations and doing a little CSS to customize them, I could really use your help. If you would be willing to donate a little time, leave me a comment below or shoot me an email at huntingforgod@gmail.com.

I’d also like to express my gratitude to those that have contributed/are contributing to the blog. Your willingness to express yourselves has allowed the blog to become far more sustainable than it ever would have been on my own. Thank you for catching my vision of what HfG could be and running with it further than I ever would have hoped.

And finally, to you, my readers… Thank you for journeying with us over the last three years. I can’t wait to see where the Hunt takes us next, and I sincerely hope you’ll stick around to be a part of it.

Enough of the mushy stuff! On with the SWAG!

Behold! The Great HfG Tackle Box Giveaway!

This blog is predicated on the idea that God is everywhere, and can use anything to communicate with us. For that reason, I decided to assemble some items together that I felt might help one to enter into a discussion with God. I’m calling it a “Tackle Box” because my hope is that the items inside it help lure God to you, and vis versa. This is the tackle box in all its glory:

What’s that you say? You can’t get a good enough look from there? Well, that’ no problem. I’ve got you covered.

After picking up this book, it has inspired at least three separate blog posts thus far. The book encourages the reader to become more aware of their surroundings. To notice things they would normally ignore. As it turns out, God is often hiding in those little things. By learning to pay more attention to the world around you, you’re also learning to pay more attention to the things God might be trying to say.

Art Supplies- The Bible says God spoke the entire universe into existence. I like to believe that he gave humans a shred of that power in the form of art. With these tools, you can paint, sketch, and write something into existence.

The Senses- I believe that God can speak to us subjectively. Sometimes it can be through a cup of tea on a quiet morning, or a rich cup of coffee late at night. I’ve found that lighting candles can sometimes change the environment just enough to make it feel new and out of the ordinary, which allows for new discoveries.

The Natural World- Get to know God through the examination of the world he created, and have a part in creating something yourself. Jesus had his anarchist tendencies, but also brought wholeness and restoration. Now you can do the same with a well placed seed bomb.

Miscellaneous Goodies- Never forget that God has a silly, immature side. The next time you feel like he is being a stodgy old man, just picture him wearing this fancy gentleman’s mustache. Now you can have your own yellow marble. And finally, I’m including a 1GB Flash Drive that is loaded to the brim with some digital goodies… Music, binaural meditation tracks, and guides detailing how to participate in a number of spiritual practices.

For All That’s Pure and Decent, Tell Me How to Win!

Winning is easy! The first thing you have to do, is like the HfG Facebook page. Once that’s done, each of the following actions will give you an entry into the giveaway:
